177. and meaning thereof and the act of Assembly in such case made and provided Witness my hand W.m McMichael J.P. Annis Atkinson Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale was recorded on Paid from Ex.d the 26.th day of December 1843, To wit: Thomas Hubbard Know all men by these presents that I Thomas Hubbard of Dorchester County in the State of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of one dollar current money to me in hand paid by Annis Atkinson free Coloured woman of the City of Baltimore in the said state at and before the sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt whereof I the said Thomas Hubbard do hereby acknowledged have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said Annis Adkinson her executors, administrators and assigns one Negro Girl Susan To have and to hold all and singular the said Negro Girl Susan and other the premises above bargained and sold or mentioned and intended so to be to the said Annis Adkinson her executors, administrators and assigns forever. And I the said Thomas Hubbard for myself my heirs executors and administrators all and singular the said Negro Girl Susan unto the said Annis her executors, administrators and assigns against me the said Thomas Hubbard my executors and administrators and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents of the said Negro Girl Susan I the said Thomas Hubbard have put the said Annis Adkinson in full possession by delivering to her the said Annis Adkinson the said Negro Girl Susan at the sealing of these presents in the name of the said Negro Girl Susan hereby bargained and sold or mentioned and intended to be so unto the said Annis Adkinson as aforesaid In Witness whereof I hereunto subscribe my name and affix my seal this fourteenth day of December in the year of Our Lord 1843. Witness John M. Beckwith John A. L. Radcliff Thomas Hubbard (seal) State of Maryland, Dorchester County, To wit: Be it remembered and it is hereby certified that on this 14.th day of December in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty three before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace of the State of Maryland in and for Dorchester County aforesaid personally appears Thomas Hubbard he being known to me to be the person whom is named and described as and professing to be a party to the foregoing deed or indenture and doth acknowledge the said indenture or instrument of writing to be his act and deed.
