168. State of Maryland Dorchester County To wit: on this twenty first day of October one thousand eight hundred and forty three personally appears William D. Barron the party Grantor within and above named before the subscriber a Justice of the Peace in and for Dorchester County and state aforesaid and and acknowledges within above and foregoing Bill of Sale or instrument of writing to be his act and deed and delivered for the purposes therein mentioned according to the purport thereof and the acts of assembly in such cases made and provided Taken before and certified by James Rea Hooper C. Hicks Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale was recorded from Ex.d on the 9.th day of November 1843, To wit John K. Thompson This Indenture made this 6.th day of November in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and forty three between John K. Thompson of this one part and Hooper C. Hicks of the other part whereas the said John K. Thompson owes and stands justly indebted to the said Hooper C. Hicks in the sum of Sixty dollars current money and to secure the payment thereof is willing to execute these presents, Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said Jno K. Thompson for and in consideration of these premises and of the sum of sixty dollars current money to him in hand paid by the said Hooper C. Hicks at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Hooper C. Hicks his executors administrators or assigns one gray mare Sidney aged 7 years last spring to have and to hold said mare unto Hooper C. Hicks his executors or assigns to his own use and behoof Witness Charles Corkran John K. Thompson (Seal) State of Maryland Dorchester County To wit On this 8.th day of November in the year 1843 personally appeared before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace in and for the said State and County John K. Thompson and acknowledged the within Bill of Sale or instrument of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof. Acknowledged before Charles Corkran W. V. M. Edmondson Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale was recorded from Ex.d on the 20.th day of November 1843, to wit: William W. Davis Know all men by these presents that I William W. Davis of Dorchester County State of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of seventy eight dollars and sixty cents now due to as also the further sum of one hundred and ten dollars in Case current money in hand paid by W. V. M. Edmondson of the County and state aforesaid before the sealing and delivering of these presents the acknowledgment of the indebtedness of the sum of seventy eight dollars and sixty cents as also the receipt of the further sum of one hundred and ten dollars current money I the said William W. Davis do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the said W. V. M. Edmondson his executors, administrators and assigns Deliv.d to W. V. M. Edmondson March 21 1844 |
