Sarah W. Yates      Be it Remembered that the following Bill of Sale was recorded on
Ex.d      from          13 day of September Anno Domini 1843 To wit
Thomas Hicks         Know all men by tehse presents that I Thomas Hicks of Dorchester County
and State of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of one Dollar current Money to me
in hand paid by Sarah Williamina Yates daughter of W. H. Yates of the county and State aforesaid
said the receipt whereof I do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained sold and delivered and
by these presents do grant bargain sell and deliver unto the said Sarah Williamina Yates
a negro boy called Harry aged about ten years which said property I will warrant and
defend to the said Sarah W Yates her executors or administrators and against every other
person or persons whomsoever in witness whereof I have hereunto set my name and affixed
my seal this twelfth day of September one thousand eight hundred and forty three
in presence of

State of Maryland Dorchester County To wit on this twelfth day of September in
the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and forty three before me the subscriber a Justice
of the peace in and for the said County and State personally appeared Thomas Hicks
and acknowledged the above bill of sale or instrument of writing to be his act and deed
according to the true intent & meaning thereof      Acknowledged before

Charles Soward           Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale was recorded
Ex.d      from                on the 14.th day of September Anno Domini 1843 To wit
William B. LeCompte   Know all men by these presents that I William B Lecompte
of Dorchester County in the state of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum
of three hundred and ten Dollars current money to me in hand paid by Charles
Soward have granted bargained and sold and by these presents do Grant bargain
& sell unto the said Charles Soward my negro woman named Dido and her child
Abraham.  The said Dido to be free as for the manumition filed in the Clerks office
by Levin Keene Dec.d and the child Abraham to serve the said Soward agreeable
to the above named manumition as afors.d  Eeach of them to serve the said Soward
as slaves aforesaid and then to be free to him his heirs Executors administrators and
assigns against me the said William B Lecompte my heirs Executors and Administrators,
and against all and every other person or persons shall and will warrant
and defend  In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this
fourteenth day of September in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and forty
three
