Maryland Dorchester County To wit:  on the 22.d day of August
1843 appeared Robert Shenton before me the subscriber a Justice of the Peace
for said County and acknowledged the foregoing bill of Sale or instrument
of writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning
of the same      Acknowledged before               Henry Shenton


James K. Lewis      Be it rememberd that the following Mortgage
Ex.d  from              was recorded on the 28.th day of August 1843.  To wit
L. M.cCollister        This Indenture made this nineteenth day of August
                               in the year of our Lord eighteen hundred and
forty three between Zorababel M.cCollister of Dorchester County and state
of Maryland of the one part and James K. Lewis of the County and State
aforesaid of the other part Whereas the said Zorobabel M.cCollister owes
and stands justly indebted to the said James K. Lewis in the sum
of five hundred dollars current money on note of this date bearing
interest from the date of the same and to secure the payment thereof is willing
to execute these presents; Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said Zorababel
M.cCollister for and in consideration of the premises and of the sum of five dollars
current money to him in hand paid by the said James K. Lewis at and before
the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged
hath hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain
and sell unto the said James K. Lewis his Executors administrators and assigns
one Negro Boy William unto the said James K. Lewis his Executors
administrators and assigns to his and their own use and behoof
Provided always and it is declared to be the true intent and meaning
of these presents that if the said Zorobabel M.cCollister do and shall
well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said James K. Lewis
his Executors, administrators or assigns the full and just sum of five
hundred dollars with legal interest for the same on or before the nineteenth
day of August in the year eighteen hundred and forty six these
and in such case these presents and every matter and thing contained here
shall cease and determine and be utterly void to all intents and purposes
any thing herein contained to the contrary notwithstanding And the
said Zorobabel M.cCollister for himself his Executors and administrators
the said Negro Boy William unto the said James K. Lewis his Executors
administrators and assigns against him the said Zorobabel M.cCollister
