152 within written his Signed, sealed & delivered Robert x Button (seal) in the presence of mark Henry Shenton Maryland Dorchester County To Wit on the 22.d day of August 1843 appeared Robert Button before me the subscriber a Justice of the peace for said County and acknowledged the foregoing bill of sale or instrument of Writing to be his act and deed according to the true intent and meaning of the same Acknowledged before Henry Shenton Moses A. Shenton Be it remembered that the following Mortgage Ex.d from was recorded on the 23.d day of August 1843, To Wit: Robert Shenton This Indenture made this twenty second day of August one thousand eight hundred and forty three between Robert Shenton of Dorchester County state of Maryland of the one part and Moses A Shenton of County and state aforesaid of the other part: Whereas the said Robert Shenton owes and stands justly indebted to the said Moses A. Shenton in the sum of thirty five dollars current money and to secure the payment thereof is willing to execute these presents. Now this Indenture Witnesseth that the said Robert Shenton for and in consideration of the premises and of the sum of five dollars current money to him in hand paid by the said Moses A. Shenton at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained and sold and by these presents doth grant bargain and sell unto the said Moses A. Shenton his Executors administrators and assigns all and singular the goods and chattels and house hold stuff herein after perticular mentioned and expressed that is to say one Bay Mare one yoke of Oxen one Cow and yearling four Hogs one plough & three hoes ten bushels of wheat five bushels of Oats ten Stack of stray two thirds of the crop of corn on the ground and six bushels of Irish Potatoes To have and to hold the said goods and chattels and House hold stuff unto the said Moses A. Shenton, his Executors, administrators and assigns to his and their own use and behoof; Provided always and it is declared to be the true intent and meaning of these presents that if the said Robert Shenton do and shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said Moses A. Shenton the full sum of thirty five dollars current money with legal interest for the same on or before the 15.th day of August 1844 then and in such case these presents and every matter and thing therein contained shall cease determine and be utterly void to all intents and purposes any thing therein contained therein to the contrary notwithstanding In Witness whereof the said Robert Shenton has hereunto set his hand |
