against all and every other person or persons shall and will warrant and defend
In Testimony whereof I have hereto set my hand and affixed my seal this Fourth
day of August 1843

State of Maryland Dorchester County To wit on this 4.th day of August 1843 before
me the Subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for said County and State personally
appeared William Rea and Acknowledged the above bill of Sale or instrument of
Writing to be act and deed according to the true intents and meaning whereof
                                     Acknowledged before               Charles Corkran


William L. Willcox   Be it Remembered that the following Bill of Sale was recorded
Fee paid from   x.d   on the 23.d day of August 1843  To wit
Thomas K. Smith       Know all men by these presents that I Thomas K Smith of Dorchester
County in the State of Maryland for and in consideration of the Sum of Two hundred
and fifty Dollars to him in hand paid by William L Willcox of Baltimore County in
the said State at and before the Sealing and delivering of these presents the receipt
Whereof I the said Thomas K Smith do hereby Acknowledge have granted bargained
and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and Sell unto the said William
L Willcox his executors administrators and assigns a certain negro woman
about Sixteen years of age Slave for life called by the name of Jane Young
To have and to Hold all and Singular the aforesaid Jane Young Slave for
life above bargained and sold or mentioned or intended so to be to the said
William L. Willcox his heirs executors and administrators and assigns against
me the said Thomas K Smith my executors administrators and against all
and every person or persons whatsoever shall and will warrant and
forever defend by these presents all and Singular the aforesaid Negro
woman I the said Thomas K Smith have put the said William L Willcox
in full possession by delivering to him the said William L Willcox the said
negro woman at the sealing and delivering of these presents hereby bargained
and sold or mentioned and intended to be do unto the said William L Willcox
as aforesaid      In Witness whereof I have set my and Seal and Seal this
22.d day of August 1843                                       Thomas K Smith      (Seal)
Signed and Sealed in the presence of William Newton

State of Maryland Dorchester County  Be it Remembered that on the 22.d day of August 1843 before me
the Subscriber a Justice of the peace in and for the State and County aforesaid personally appeared
Thomas K Smith and Acknowledged the within Bill of sale to be his Act and deed and the
property to be the right and title of the said William L Willcox according to the
true intent and meaning and an Act of Assembly in such case made and provided
                                                     William Newton a Justice of the peace
