Dorchester County to wit  Be it remembered that on this Thirty first day of May in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty three personally appeared John
Newton Samuel I Meekins & Samuel Harrington subscribing witnesses to the within
bond before me the subscriber one of the justices of the peace of the state of Maryland for Dorchester
County aforesaid and severally made oath on the Holy evangelly of Almighty God
that they did see William B Dail Jno H Hodson Thomas Hicks John Muir and
Henry Bibby obligors in the said bond sign seal and deliver the said bond as their
respective act and deed and that they the said John Newton Samuel Harrington
& Samuel I Meekins did subscribe their names as witnesses thereto

Peter Harrington      Be it remembered that the following bill of sale was recorded
Ex.d      From          7th June 1843 to wit      Know all Men by these presents
Nehemiah Craig       that I Nehemiah Craig of Dorchester County in the state
of Maryland for and in consideration of the sum of two Hundred and Fifty
Dollars Current Money to me in Hand paid by Peter Harrington of the County
and state aforesaid at and Before the sealing and delivery of these presents the
receipt whereof I the said Nemiah Craig do hereby acknowledge have granted
Bargained and sold and by these presents do grant Bargain and sell
unto the said Peter Harrington His executors administrators and assigns one
Negro man Called Garretson aged about thirty years a Slave for life which
said Negro Garretson is now in the possession of the said Harrington  To
Have and to hold all and singular the said negro above Bargained and
Sold or mentioned or intended so to be to the said Peter Harrington His
executors administrators and assigns Forever and I the said Nehemiah
Craig for myself my Heirs executors and administrators all and Singular
the said Negro unto the said Peter harrington His executors administrators
and assigns against me the said Nehemiah Craig my executors and administrators
and against all and every other person or persons whatsoever either
at law or equity shall and will warrant and forever defend by these presents
the said Negro Man Garretson unto the said Peter Harrington His Heirs
and assigns free and clear of all incumbrances of all persons whatsoever
In witness whereof I the said Nemiah Craig hath Hereunto set my Hand
and affixed my seal this Tenth day may in the year of our lord Eighteen
Hundred and Forty three                                           his
