Levin Fooks      Be it remembered that the following Bill of Sale was recorded
Ex.d  from         12th may 1843 to wit         Known all men by these presents
Stephen Holt      that I Stephen Holt of Dorchester county and state of Maryland
for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred and forty four dollars fifty cents
state aforesaid at or before the sealing and delivering of these presents the
receipt whereof I the said Stephen Holt do hereby acknowledge have granted bargained
and sold and by these presents do grant bargain and sell unto the
said Levin Fooks his executors administrators and assigns the following property
to wit one gray horse one bay horse one cow the crop of wheat and crop of oats on the
ground the crop of corn on the ground one bed bedstead and furniture six cane
bottomed chairs one bureau one mahogany Table five barrels of corn To have and
to Hold the said one gray horse one bay horse one cow the crop of wheat and
crop of oats on the ground the crop of corn on the ground one bed bedstid and
furniture six cane bottomed chairs one bureau one mahogany table five barrels
of corn to the said Levin Fooks his executors administrators and assigns forever
and I the said Stephen Holt for my self heirs executors and administrators
the aforesaid property to the said Levin Hooks his executors administrators and
assigns against me the said Stephen Holt my executors and administrators
and against all and every person and persons whomsoever shall and will
warrant and forever defend by these presents Provided nevertheless that
in case I the said Stephen Holt shall pay and satisfy to the said Levin Fooks
his executors administrators or assigns the sum of two hundred and forty four
dollars and fifty cents current money with interest for the same on or before the
last day of December next ensuing then this Bill of sale and every matter
and thing therein expressed shall be void and of none effect otherwise to remain
and be of full force and virtue in law  In Witness whereof I the said Stephen
Holt have hereunto set my hand and seal this tenth day of May in the year
eighteen hundred and forty three                           mark

       Standley Richardson
State of Maryland Dorchester county to wit  On this tenth day may in the
year eighteen hundred and forty three before me the subscriber one of the Justices
of the peace in and for the said county personally appeared Stephen Holt and
acknowledged the foregoing Bill of Sale or instrument of writing to be his
act and deed according to the true intent and meaning thereof and the
act of assembly in such case made and provided   Acknowledged before
and Certified by      Standley Richardson
