Item (2) of this section is new language added for clarity.

The term "member" is substituted for the former, references to "employee",
"teacher", and "State Police officer" to reflect that this definition applies
throughout this Division II.

"Member" § 20-101

(P) ELIGIBILITY SERVICE.

"ELIGIBILITY SERVICE" MEANS THE SERVICE CREDIT OF A MEMBER THAT IS
RECOGNIZED FOR DETERMINING ELIGIBILITY FOR A, BENEFIT UNDER THIS
DIVISION II.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection is derived without substantive change from
. former Art. 73B, §§ 4-101(d), 5-101(d), 8-101(d), and 10-201(d).

The reference to "Division II" is substituted for former references to several
"pension system[s]" to reflect that this definition applies throughout this
Division II and to conform the service provisions of the retirement systems to
the service provisions of the pension systems to the extent possible;

The term "service credit" is substituted for "service" to reflect changes in the
substantive provisions for each State system.

Defined term: "Member" § 20-101

        (Q) EMPLOYEES' PENSION SYSTEM.

"EMPLOYEES' PENSION SYSTEM" MEANS THE EMPLOYEES' PENSION SYSTEM OF
THE STATE OF MARYLAND.

the longer title of the system.                             

(R) EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM.

"EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT SYSTEM' MEANS THE EMPLOYEES' RETIREMENT
SYSTEM OF THE STATE OF MARYLAND.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This subsection formerly was Art. 73B; § 4-101(f).

No changes are made.

(S) EMPLOYER PICKUP CONTRIBUTION.

"EMPLOYER PICKUP CONTRIBUTION" MEANS A CONTRIBUTION MADE
THROUGH A REDUCTION IN A MEMBER'S COMPENSATION UNDER § 21-313 OF THIS
ARTICLE.
