Section 18-302(d)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1991 Replacement Volume and 1993 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Health Occupations

18-101.

(G) "DOCTORAL DEGREE IN PSYCHOLOGY" MEANS A DEGREE RECEIVED
FROM A PROGRAM THAT AT THE TIME THE DEGREE WAS AWARDED:

(1)      IS ACCREDITED BY THE AMERICAN PSYCHOLOGICAL ASSOCIATION;
OR

(2)      IS LISTED IN THE DESIGNATED DOCTORAL PROGRAMS IN
PSYCHOLOGY PUBLISHED BY:                                                                             

(I)       THE ASSOCIATION OF STATE AND PROVINCIAL PSYCHOLOGY
BOARDS; AND

(II)     THE COUNCIL FOR THE NATIONAL REGISTER OF HEALTH
SERVICE PROVIDERS IN PSYCHOLOGY.

18-302.

(d) The applicant shall have a doctoral degree IN PSYCHOLOGY [that:

(1)      Is from an accredited college or university and based on a program of
studies whose content was primarily psychological; or

(2)      Is based on a program of studies judged by the Board to be substantially
equivalent in subject matter and extent of training to a doctoral degree in psychology
from an accredited college or university].

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the State Board of
Examiners of Psychologists may determine that an individual meets the qualifications
educational requirements for a license to practice psychology if the individual:

(1)      holds a doctoral degree in human development from the University of
Maryland at College Park that was awarded to the individual before January 1, 1992;

(2)      holds a master's degree in psychology;

(3)      has at least 3 years of supervised experience in psychology that is
approved by the Board;

(4)      has met educational and practicum requirements of the Board which, for
purposes of this section, includes courses that the individual has taken:

(i) after the individual has received a doctoral degree in human
development; and
