Education of Baltimore County; altering the number and district residency
requirement of members of the Baltimore County Board of Education; providing for
the application of this Act; and generally relating to the membership of the
membership of the Baltimore County Board of Education.
BY repealing and reenacting, with amendments,

Section 3-108(a) and 3-109(a)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

3-108.
(a) (1) Except for the counties listed in § 3-113 of this subtitle AND SUBJECT
TO THE PROVISIONS OF PARAGRAPH (2) OF THIS SUBSECTION, the Governor shall
appoint the members of each county board from the residents of that county.
(2) FOR THE BALTIMORE COUNTY BOARD, THE GOVERNOR SHALL
APPOINT EACH MEMBER WITH THE ADVICE AND CONSENT OF THE SENATE OF
MARYLAND.
3-109.
(a) The Baltimore County Board consists of [10] 12 members who shall be
appointed as follows:
(1) [One] THREE FOUR from the County at large;
(2) One from each of the eight legislative districts that are wholly or partly
SEVEN COUNCILMANIC DISTRICTS in Baltimore County; and
(3) One student member from the County at large.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the appointments to the Board
of Education of Baltimore County made on or after July 1, 1994 shall be made in accordance
with the following guidelines:
(1) the appointee who replaces the member who was appointed from legislative
district 6 shall reside in councilmanic district 5 on July 1, 1996;
(2) the appointee who replaces the member who was appointed from legislative
district 7 shall reside in councilmanic district 7 on July 1, 1999;
(3) the appointee who replaces the member who was appointed from legislative
district 8 shall reside in councilmanic district 6 on July 1, 1997;
(4) the appointee who replaces the member who was appointed from legislative
district 9 shall reside in councilmanic district 4 on July 1, 1998;
