and experience requirements currently imposed by the laws of Maryland at the time
of application; providing that a licensee who has been granted a waiver of the
examination requirements and becomes licensed by the Board need not maintain
licensure in any other state, territory, or foreign country as a condition of
maintaining the license granted by the Board; and generally relating to licensure by
the State Board of Professional Engineers.

Section 14-311
Annotated Code of Maryland

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Business Occupations and Professions

14-311.

(a)     Subject to the provisions of this section, the Board may waive any examination
requirement of this subtitle for an individual who is licensed to practice engineering in
another state or territory of the United States or in a foreign country.

(b)     The Board may grant a waiver under this section only if the applicant:

(1)     is of good character and reputation;                                           

(2)     pays to the Board a license fee of $100 in lieu of any fee required under
§ 14-312 of this subtitle; and                               

(3)     provides adequate evidence that [,]:

(I)      at the time the applicant was licensed by the other state, territory,
of foreign country, the applicant met requirements that were equivalent to those then
required by the laws of this State[.]; OR

(II)     AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION FOR WAIVER OF THE
EXAMINATION REQUIREMENTS UNDER THIS SECTION, THE APPLICANT MEETS THE
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS CURRENTLY REQUIRED BY THE
LAWS OF THIS STATE.                           

(C) AN ENGINEER WHO IS GRANTED A WAIVER OF THE EXAMINATION
REQUIREMENTS AND BECOMES LICENSED BY THE BOARD MAY NOT BE REQUIRED
TO MAINTAIN LICENSURE IN ANY OTHER STATE, TERRITORY, OR FOREIGN
COUNTRY AS A CONDITION OF MAINTAINING THE LICENSE GRANTED BY THE
BOARD.                         

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October 1, 1994.
