(b) Whenever a general salary increase is awarded to State employees, each judge
shall receive the same percentage increase in [his] salary as awarded to the lowest step
of the highest salary grade for classified SERVICE employees in the [State salary plan]
STANDARD PAY PLAN.

(d) (2) The Mayor and City Council shall pay monthly to the Sheriff of
Baltimore City one twelfth of the amount provided in the ordinance of estimates for the
expenses of the Sheriff's office. Within 30 days after June 30th in each and every year the
Sheriff of Baltimore City shall pay to the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore any of the
unexpended expense funds advanced during the preceding year and render a detailed
account to the Mayor and City Council of Baltimore of all expense funds received and
expended by him. The Mayor and City Council of Baltimore shall reimburse the State of
Maryland for the administrative costs incurred because the employees of the Sheriff's
office of Baltimore City are IN THE classified SERVICE [employees] of the State [of
Maryland] PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM.

(b) The procedure for appointment and removal of personnel in the clerk's office
shall be as provided by rules adopted by the Court of Appeals. Those rules may provide
whether the positions shall be in the classified SERVICE or unclassified service of the
State PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM or in the personnel system of the Judicial
Branch.

(b)     Except as provided in § 2-602 OF THIS SUBTITLE OR OTHERWISE BY LAW,
the clerical, administrative, and constabular employees of the District Court shall be
appointed by the chief judge of the District Court on the recommendation of the
administrative judge for the district and shall be in the [State] classified service OF THE
STATE PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM.

(c)     The chief clerk, the assistant chief clerks, the supervising auditor, and the
chief administrative clerks of the districts shall be in the [unclassified service]
PERSONNEL SYSTEM OF THE JUDICIAL BRANCH, subject to the classification authority
of the Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals [and] AND, , AND shall receive the
compensation prescribed by the General Assembly.

2-604.

(b) Constables may serve either full time or part time. Full-time constables are in
the classified service OF THE STATE PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM and shall be
paid on the same salary scale as that is set by the Secretary of Personnel pursuant to §
2-309(d) of this article for full-time deputy sheriffs in Baltimore City. Part-time
constables are not in the [classified service] STATE PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT
SYSTEM, and are paid the compensation prescribed by the General Assembly, and serve
at the pleasure of the Chief Judge of the District Court.
