1993 LAWS OF MARYLAND

(V)     A deputy sheriff who uses [his] A personal automobile is entitled
to a monthly automobile allowance at the same rate paid to other State employees. Any
Sheriff who is assigned a city-owned automobile may not receive the monthly automobile
expense allowance.

(VI)    [They] THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE shall also have assistants at the
compensation provided for. in the annual ordinance of estimates of Baltimore City.
Provisions shall also be made in the ordinance for the expenses of the office of the
Sheriff, including the purchase and maintenance of motor vehicles.

(VII)  The Mayor and City Council OF BALTIMORE [have] HAS the
same power with respect to the salaries of the office of the Sheriff as [they have] IT HAS
under the city charter with respect to the salaries of all municipal departments.

(VIII)   Employees of the Sheriff's office, except the Sheriff, shall be
selected according to the provisions of [§ 9E of Article 64A of the Code] THE STATE
PERSONNEL ARTICLE THAT GOVERN CLASSIFIED SERVICE EMPLOYEES.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Chapter____, Acts of 1993, which enacted Division I of the

State Personnel Article, also amended paragraph (1) of this subsection to
correct a cross-reference to former Art. 64A, § 9E, which is transferred to the
Session Laws of Maryland by this Act, and to make stylistic changes.

Article - Education

2-105.                                                                                                                         

(A)     Unless otherwise provided by law, the State Superintendent shall appoint and'
remove all clerical assistants and other nonprofessional personnel of the Department in
accordance with the PROVISIONS OF THE State [merit system law] PERSONNEL
ARTICLE THAT GOVERN THE CLASSIFIED SERVICE.                                                  

(B)     THE CREDENTIAL SECRETARY AND STATISTICIAN OF THE DEPARTMENT
ARE IN THE UNCLASSIFIED SERVICE OF THE STATE PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT
SYSTEM.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Chapter_____, Acts of 1993, which enacted Division I of the

State Personnel Article, also amended this section to add subsection (b),
which is new language derived without substantive change from former Art.
64A, § 4(2), and to make stylistic changes.                                             

14-104.

(I) (1) EXCEPT AS PROVIDED IN PARAGRAPH (2) OF THIS SUBSECTION OR
OTHERWISE BY LAW, ALL EMPLOYEES OF THE UNIVERSITY ARE IN THE CLASSIFIED
SERVICE OF THE STATE PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT SYSTEM:                     

(2) ALL OFFICERS,. FACULTY, AND PROFESSIONAL STAFF OF THE
UNIVERSITY ARE IN THE UNCLASSIFIED SERVICE OF THE STATE PERSONNEL
MANAGEMENT SYSTEM.
