Ch. 10                                       1993 LAWS OF MARYLAND

Former Art. 64A, § 4(12), which excluded from the classified service the executive
director, stewards, and harness judges employed by the State Racing Commission, is
revised in BR §§ 11-205 and 11-206.

Former Art. 64A, § 4(13), which excluded from the classified service the deputy and
assistant directors of the Department of Social Services for Baltimore City appointed
after May 1, 1989, is revised in Art. 88A, § 13 of the Code.

Former Art. 64A, § 4(14), which excluded from the classified service directors of
local departments of social services appointed after October 1, 1992, is revised in Art.
88A, § 13 of the Code.

Former Art. 64A, § 6, which excluded from the classified service the deputy
commissioner of correction, is revised in Art. 27, § 679 of the Code.

Former Art. 64A, § 9G, which related to boards of supervisors of elections and their
employees, is revised in Art. 33, § 2-6 of the Code.

Former Art. 64A, § 9J-1(d), which required Baltimore County to furnish the
Division of Parole and Probation with suitable space, equipment, and facilities to carry
out its work in the County, provided for reimbursement by the Division, and reserved the
right of the Division to relocate in accordance with SF § 4-319, is deleted as obsolete
because the Division has, in fact, relocated.

Former Art. 64A, § 9P, which included in the classified service all clerical and
administrative employees of any soil conservation district that, with the concurrence of
the State Soil Conservation Committee, applied to the Secretary of Personnel prior to
July 1, 1979 for appointment of those employees under the "State Merit System" as
employees of the Committee, is revised in AG § 8-203.

Former Art. 64A, § 9V(a) and (b)(1), which included in the classified service
employees of the State Lottery Agency, except the deputy director, is revised in SG §
9-108.         

Former Art. 64A, § 47, which included in the classified service certain building and
grounds employees in Annapolis effective December 31, 1965, is transferred to the
Session Laws of Maryland.

Former Art. 64A, § 51(m), which included in the classified service certain part-time
employees as of July 1, 1975, is transferred to the Session Laws of Maryland.

1-501. SHORT-TERM EMPLOYEES.

THE FOLLOWING EMPLOYEES ARE IN NEITHER THE CLASSIFIED SERVICE NOR
THE UNCLASSIFIED SERVICE:

(1)  A CONTRACTUAL EMPLOYEE;

(2)  AN EMERGENCY EMPLOYEE;

(3)  A TEMPORARY EXTRA EMPLOYEE; OR
