DIRECTOR AND THE REGULAR FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES THAT ARE EMPLOYED BY
THE CANAL PLACE PRESERVATION AND DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY UNDER §
13-1008(5) OF THE FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS ARTICLE.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That of the six members of
the Canal Place Preservation and Development Authority initially appointed by the
Governor under this Act, two shall be appointed for a 1-year term, one shall be
appointed for a 3-year term, and one shall be appointed for a 4-year term. Thereafter,
the terms are as provided in this Act.
SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That if any provision of this
Act or the application thereof to any person or circumstance is held invalid for any reason
in a court of competent jurisdiction, the invalidity does not affect other provisions or any
other application of this Act which can be given effect without the invalid provision or
application, and for this purpose the provisions of this Act are declared severable.
SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall take effect
October June 1, 1993.

AN ACT concerning
Retirement and Pension Systems - Retirees - Reemployment as Elected Official or
Constitutional Officer for a County
FOR the purpose of exempting certain retirees from the Employees' Retirement System,
the Teachers' Retirement System, the Pension System for Employees of the State of
Maryland, or the Pension System for Teachers of the State of Maryland from
certain restrictions on retirement benefits upon reemployment under certain
circumstances; providing for the construction of this Act; and generally relating to
retirement benefits for reemployed retirees from the Maryland State Retirement
and Pension Systems.
SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the provisions of Article 73B - Pensions, §§ 2-411, 3-408, 4-411, and
5-410 of the Annotated Code of Maryland do not apply to a retiree who, on June 1, 1993,
is serving in an elected position as an official of a participating municipal corporation as
defined in Article 73B, § 10-101(e) of the Code or as a constitutional officer for a county
that is a participating municipal corporation.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That it is the intent of the
General Assembly that this Act shall be construed both retroactively and prospectively
and shall apply to, and be interpreted to have an effect upon, any retiree from the
Employees' Retirement System, the Teachers' Retirement System, the Pension System
for Employees of the State of Maryland, or the Pension System for Teachers of the State
