PENALTIES.

A PERSON WHO VIOLATES ANY PROVISION OF THIS TITLE IS GUILTY
OF A MISDEMEANOR AND ON CONVICTION IS SUBJECT TO A FINE NOT
EXCEEDING $500 OR IMPRISONMENT NOT EXCEEDING 6 MONTHS OR BOTH.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Art. 56, §
343(a)(9) and (b).

Former Art. 56, § 343(a)(9) and (b) provided,
respectively, that a person may not violate any
provision of former Art. 56, §§ 330 through 344A and
that any violation of former § 343 is a misdemeanor.
The effect of these former provisions, when read
together, was to provide that any violation of the
former Art. 56, §§ 330 through 344A was a
misdemeanor. This section is revised accordingly.

The former minimum penalty of $100 is deleted to
conform to the statement of legislative policy in Art.
27, § 643 of the Code, which sets forth the general
rule that, notwithstanding a statutory minimum
penalty, a court may impose a lesser penalty of the
same character.

15-701. SHORT TITLE.

THIS TITLE MAY BE CITED AS THE "MARYLAND PROFESSIONAL LAND
SURVEYORS ACT".

conform to similar sections in other titles of this
article and to provide a convenient reference to this
title.
