Ch. 3

LAWS OF MARYLAND

"License" § 14-101

14-313. SCOPE OF LICENSE.

WHILE A LICENSE IS IN EFFECT, IT AUTHORIZES THE LICENSEE TO
PRACTICE ENGINEERING.

REVISOR'S NOTE: This section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Art. 75 1/2, §
15(b) and the second sentence of (a) and the first
clause of § 1(d). It is revised in the standard
language used throughout this article for comparable
provisions.

The second clause of former Art. 75 1/2, § 1(d), which
provided that a certificate of registration is not
transferable, is deleted as unnecessary and
potentially misleading. Except as otherwise expressly
provided, the licenses issued to individuals under
this article or the Health Occupations Article are not
transferable. An express statement to that effect in
this title would be an unnecessary statement of the
obvious and would imply incorrectly a difference from
other occupational licenses.

Defined terms: "License" § 14-101
"Practice engineering" § 14-101

14-314. TERM AND RENEWAL OF LICENSE.

(A)  TERM OF LICENSE.

UNLESS A LICENSE IS RENEWED FOR A 2-YEAR TERM AS PROVIDED IN
THIS SECTION, THE LICENSE EXPIRES ON THE FIRST JUNE 30 THAT
COMES:

(1)  AFTER THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THE LICENSE; AND

(2)  IN AN EVEN-NUMBERED YEAR.

(B)  RENEWAL NOTICE.

(1) AT LEAST 1 MONTH BEFORE A LICENSE EXPIRES, THE
BOARD SHALL MAIL TO THE LICENSEE, AT THE LAST KNOWN ADDRESS OF
THE LICENSEE:

(I)  A RENEWAL APPLICATION FORM; AND

(II)  A NOTICE THAT STATES:

1. THE DATE ON WHICH THE CURRENT LICENSE
EXPIRES;
