(2) "Alarm user" [means] INCLUDES the owner or lessee
of an alarm system.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the Laws of
Maryland read as follows:

(A)  AN AUDIBLE ALARM SYSTEM SHALL BE EQUIPPED TO:

(1)  AUTOMATICALLY SILENCE THE ANNUNCIATOR WITHIN 30
MINUTES AFTER ACTIVATION; AND

(2)  PERMIT AN ACCIDENTAL OR NEGLIGENT ALARM
ACTIVATION TO BE HALTED OR RECALLED RESET.

(B)  AN ALARM COMPANY CONTRACTOR MAY NOT SELL, OFFER FOR
SALE, LEASE, OFFER FOR LEASE, RENT, OR OFFER FOR RENT, AN AUDIBLE
ALARM SYSTEM THAT DOES NOT COMPLY WITH THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS
SECTION.

(C)  A PERSON WHO VIOLATES ANY PROVISION OF THIS SECTION
SHALL BE SUBJECT TO A CIVIL PENALTY OF A FINE OF $100 FOR EACH
VIOLATION.

SECTION 3. 2. 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That
Section 1 of Section 1 of this Act shall take effect July 1,
1989.

SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section 2 of
this Act shall take effect July 1, 1990.

SECTION 4. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That Section 2 of

this Act shall take effect July 1, 1990.
