Ch. 3

LAWS OF MARYLAND

Subsection (a) of this section is revised as an
express statement of that which is clearly implicit
from the requirement, in former Art. 56, § 480(c), for
an application for a certificate of registration to
state the name of the manager of a beauty shop and
from the provisions of former Art. 56, § 482(c) that
exempted limited practice beauty shops from employing
a manager.

In subsection (c) of this section, the former
reference to the practice normally performed by "an
electrologist" is deleted as unnecessary in this
title. Electrologists are regulated under Title 5 of
the Health Occupations Article.

Defined terms: "Beauty salon" § 5-101

"Beauty salon permit" § 5-101 "Board" § 5-101

5-504. APPLICATIONS FOR BEAUTY SALON PERMITS.

(A)   IN GENERAL.

AN APPLICANT FOR A BEAUTY SALON PERMIT SHALL:

(1)  SUBMIT TO THE BOARD AN APPLICATION ON THE FORM
THAT THE BOARD PROVIDES; AND

(2)  PAY TO THE BOARD AN APPLICATION FEE OF $50.

(B)  CONTENTS OF APPLICATION FORM.

IN ADDITION TO ANY OTHER INFORMATION REQUIRED ON THE
APPLICATION FORM, THE FORM SHALL REQUIRE THE APPLICANT:

(1)  TO INDICATE IF THE APPLICATION IS FOR A LIMITED
PRACTICE BEAUTY SALON OR OWNER-MANAGER PERMIT; AND

(2)   IF THE PRESENCE OF A LICENSED MANAGER IS REQUIRED
UNDER § 5-503 OF THIS SUBTITLE, TO STATE THE NAME OF THE MANAGER
OF THE BEAUTY SALON.

(C)  SEPARATE APPLICATION AND FEES FOR EACH BEAUTY SALON.

FOR EACH BEAUTY SALON PERMIT FOR WHICH A PERSON APPLIES, THE
PERSON SHALL SUBMIT A SEPARATE APPLICATION AND PAY A SEPARATE
APPLICATION FEE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsections (a), (b)(2), and (c) of this
section are new language derived without substantive
change from the second sentence and, as it related to
applications, the first sentence of former Art. 56, §
480(c) and, as it related to beauty shop owners, item
(a) of the second sentence of § 500.
