(4) MEET AT LEAST 1 OF THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS:
(I) 1. HOLD AN ASSISTANT TEACHER LICENSE; AND
2. HAVE AT LEAST 6 MONTHS OF EXPERIENCE
TEACHING UNDER THE SUPERVISION OF A LICENSED TEACHER IN A
COSMETOLOGY SCHOOL THAT HOLDS A SCHOOL PERMIT;
(II) 1. HAVE AT LEAST 2 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE AS
A LICENSED COSMETOLOGIST; AND
2. HAVE COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY 2 COURSES
IN TEACHING IN A PROGRAM APPROVED BY THE BOARD; OR
(III) HAVE COMPLETED SUCCESSFULLY A DEGREE
PROGRAM IN COSMETOLOGY EDUCATION AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND OR
A SIMILAR INSTITUTION APPROVED BY THE BOARD.
(D) EXAMINATION.
EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED IN THIS SUBTITLE, AN APPLICANT
FOR A LICENSE TO TEACH COSMETOLOGY SHALL PASS THE APPROPRIATE
EXAMINATION GIVEN BY THE BOARD UNDER THIS SUBTITLE.
REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsection (a) of this section is new
language added to introduce the basic requirements for
an applicant for a license.
Subsections (b) and (c) of this section are new
language derived without substantive change from
former Art. 56, § 482(d) and (e).
Subsection (d) of this section is new language derived
without substantive change from former Art. 56, § 481,
as that section related to passing an examination to
teach beauty culture, and rephrased in standard
language used throughout this article.
In subsections (b) and (c)(4)(i)l of this section, the
references to an "assistant" teacher are substituted
for the former references to a "junior teacher" to
conform to similar titles elsewhere in this article.
Accordingly, in the introductory language of
subsection (c) of this section, the reference to a
"teacher" is substituted for the former reference to a
"senior teacher".
In subsection (b)(2) and the introductory language and
items (i)2 and (ii)l of subsection (c)(4) of this
section, the phrase "at least" is added to clarify
that the numbers are minimum numbers.
