Subsection (d) of this section is standard language
added to state expressly that which only was implied
in the former law -- i.e., the Board must renew the
license of a qualified applicant.

In subsection (c)(2)(ii) and (iii) of this section,
the references to a "barber teacher" or "assistant
barber teacher" are substituted for the former
references to a "[b]arber science teache[r]" or
"[a]ssistant barber science teache[r]", to conform to
the terminology used throughout this title.

4-312. SAME -- JOURNEY BARBER LICENSE.

(A)  INITIAL TERM.

(1)  THE INITIAL TERM OF A JOURNEY BARBER LICENSE IS
15 MONTHS.

(2)  BEFORE THE INITIAL TERM OF A JOURNEY BARBER
LICENSE EXPIRES, THE LICENSEE SHALL TAKE THE MASTER BARBER
EXAMINATION.

(3)   IF A JOURNEY BARBER FAILS THE MASTER BARBER
EXAMINATION, THE JOURNEY BARBER MAY RENEW THE JOURNEY BARBER
LICENSE FOR ADDITIONAL TERMS AS PROVIDED IN THIS SECTION.

(B)  RENEWAL TERM.

(1)  THE FIRST RENEWAL OF A JOURNEY BARBER LICENSE IS
EFFECTIVE UNTIL THE FIRST MAY 31 THAT COMES:

(I)  AFTER THE FIRST RENEWAL IS ISSUED; AND

(II)  IN AN ODD-NUMBERED YEAR.

(2)  EACH SUBSEQUENT RENEWAL OF A JOURNEY BARBER
LICENSE SHALL BE FOR A 2-YEAR TERM.

(C)  RENEWAL NOTICE.

AT LEAST 1 MONTH BEFORE A JOURNEY BARBER LICENSE EXPIRES,
THE BOARD SHALL MAIL TO THE LICENSEE, AT THE LAST KNOWN ADDRESS
OF THE LICENSEE:

(1)  A RENEWAL APPLICATION FORM; AND

(2)  A NOTICE THAT STATES:
