WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER, Governor                        Ch. 3

ON PAYMENT OF THE APPROPRIATE LICENSE FEE, THE BOARD SHALL
ISSUE A LICENSE TO EACH APPLICANT WHO MEETS THE REQUIREMENTS OF
THIS SUBTITLE.

REVISOR'S NOTE: Subsection (a)(1) of this section is new
language added to state expressly that the Board must
give notice to qualified applicants. This procedure
conforms to the current practice of the Board.

Subsection (a)(2) of this section is new language
derived without substantive change from the first
sentence of former Art. 56, § 439(d) and, except as
they related to renewal, (a)(2), (4), (10), (12), and
(13) and rephrased as part of the notice requirement.

Subsection (b) of this section is new language that
combines, without substantive change, former Art. 56,
§ 432A(b), the first sentence of § 431(b), the first
sentence of § 432(a), the second sentence of § 436(a),
and, except as it related to renewals, the first
sentence of (d) and, as they related to issuance of a
barber teacher license, the second and third sentences
of § 435.

In subsection (a)(2)(iii) and (iv) of this section,
the references to a "barber teacher" or "assistant
barber teacher" are substituted for the former
references to a "[b]arber science teache[r]" or
"[a]ssistant barber science teache[r]", to conform to
the terminology used throughout this title.

In subsection (b) of this section, the reference to a
"license" fee is substituted for the former references
to an "examination" or "appropriate" fee, for clarity
and consistency. The fee paid by an individual who
qualifies for a license is described throughout this
article as a "license fee". The license fee required
under this section is in addition to the application
fee required under § 4-304 of this subtitle.

Defined terms: "Barber" § 4-101

"Board" § 4-101 "Journey barber" § 4-101

"License" § 4-101 "Master barber" § 4-101

4-310. SCOPE OF LICENSES.

(A)  MASTER BARBER.

WHILE A MASTER BARBER LICENSE IS IN EFFECT, IT AUTHORIZES
THE LICENSEE TO PRACTICE BARBERING WITHOUT SUPERVISION.

(B)  JOURNEY BARBER.
