WILLIAM DONALD SCHAEFER, Governor Ch. 607

THOSE AREAS OF SHORTAGE BASED ON INFORMATION PROVIDED BY
APPROPRIATE STATE EDUCATION OFFICIALS.

(C)  EACH BOARD OR COMMISSION ESTABLISHED UNDER THIS ARTICLE
SHALL PROVIDE THE SECRETARY WITH ANY INFORMATION THE SECRETARY
MAY REQUIRE TO CONDUCT THE ACTIVITIES UNDER SUBSECTION (B) OF
THIS SECTION.

(D)  EACH YEAR, THE SECRETARY SHALL REPORT TO THE GENERAL
ASSEMBLY, IN ACCORDANCE WITH § 2-1312 OF THE STATE GOVERNMENT
ARTICLE, THE GOVERNOR, THE STATE BOARD FOR HIGHER EDUCATION, AND
THE STATE BOARD FOR COMMUNITY COLLEGES ON THE NUMBER AND TYPES OF
AREAS OF SHORTAGE AND THE PROJECTED STATEWIDE EMPLOYMENT VACANCY
RATES IN HOSPITALS AND RELATED INSTITUTIONS.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1988.

AN ACT concerning

Wiretapping, Electronic Surveillance, and Electronic

Communications

FOR the purpose of applying the laws relating to wiretapping and
electronic surveillance to certain electronic
communications; altering the penalties for certain
violations of the wiretapping and electronic surveillance
laws; clarifying that certain provisions of the wiretapping
and electronic surveillance laws apply to certain providers
of wire and electronic communication services; establishing
certain exceptions to the wiretapping and electronic
surveillance laws; prohibiting certain persons from
intentionally divulging the contents of certain
communications; making persons who engage in certain conduct
in violation of the wiretapping and electronic surveillance
laws subject to suit by the federal government or the State;
providing certain remedies and penalties in certain actions;
authorizing a court to grant an order authorizing the
interception of certain electronic communications under
certain circumstances; clarifying certain time periods
relating to certain orders authorizing the interception of

certain communications; restricting the remedies and

sanctions relating to certain violations involving certain
