Ch. 246                                          LAWS OF MARYLAND

(III) COORDINATE AND ARBITRATE AMONG THE
INSTITUTIONS AND CENTERS OF THE UNIVERSITY;

(IV) ASSIST THE INSTITUTIONS IN ACHIEVING
PERFORMANCE GOALS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE ACCOUNTABILITY
PROGRAM UNDER THE MARYLAND HIGHER EDUCATION COMMISSION;

PERFORMANCE GOALS IN ACCORDANCE WITH THEIR ADOPTED PERFORMANCE
ACCOUNTABILITY PLAN;

(V) PROVIDE TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO

INSTITUTIONS AND CENTERS SUCH AS LEGAL AND FINANCIAL SERVICES;

(I) (VI) PERFORM THE DUTIES THE BOARD ASSIGNS;
AND

(II) (VII) SEE THAT THE POLICIES OF THE BOARD
ARE CARRIED OUT.

(2)  THE CHANCELLOR SERVES AT THE PLEASURE OF THE
BOARD.

(3)  THE CHANCELLOR IS ENTITLED TO THE COMPENSATION
ESTABLISHED BY THE BOARD.

(C)  THE CHANCELLOR MAY HAVE THE ADDITIONAL STAFF PROVIDED
IN THE UNIVERSITY BUDGET.

(D)  (1) EACH EMPLOYEE OF THE BOARD SHALL JOIN THE STATE
TEACHERS' RETIREMENT PENSION SYSTEM OR THE STATE EMPLOYEES'
RETIREMENT PENSION SYSTEM.

(2) AS AN ALTERNATIVE, ANY EMPLOYEE IN A POSITION
DETERMINED BY THE BOARD TO BE A PROFESSIONAL POSITION MAY JOIN
THE OPTIONAL RETIREMENT PROGRAM UNDER ARTICLE 73B, § 110 OF THE
CODE.

12-109.

(A)  UPON RECOMMENDATION OF IN CONSULTATION WITH THE

CHANCELLOR AND AFTER A THOROUGH SEARCH, THE BOARD OF REGENTS
SHALL APPOINT A QUALIFIED PERSON AS PRESIDENT OF EACH CONSTITUENT
INSTITUTION.

(B)  THE PRESIDENT OF EACH CONSTITUENT INSTITUTION IS
ENTITLED TO THE COMPENSA COMPENSATION ESTABLISHED BY THE BOARD OF
REGENTS.

(C)  THE PRESIDENT OF EACH CONSTITUENT INSTITUTION SERVES AT
THE PLEASURE OF THE BOARD OF REGENTS.

(D)  THE PRESIDENT OF EACH CONSTITUENT INSTITUTION SHALL:
