(i) $4.00 multiplied by the vehicle's
registered gross weight, but not more than $240, for a vehicle
weighing between 40,000 and 60,000 pounds; and
(ii) $4.25 multiplied by the vehicle's
registered gross weight, but not more than $340, for a vehicle
weighing between 60,001 and 80,000 pounds.
(2) The amount refunded shall be the lesser of:
(i) 25% of the excise tax that was paid by the
owner on that vehicle; or
(ii) $4.25 multiplied by every 1000 pounds of
the registered gross vehicle weight multiplied by the percentage
of Maryland's total registration fee that was paid because of the
International Registration Plan in 1989 for that vehicle.
(c) The refund provided in this section shall be applicable
for the registration of the vehicle described under subsection
(a) of this section during fiscal year 1989 only.
SECTION 4 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That:
(a) Subject to the provisions of subsection (b) of the this
section, upon application, the Administration shall refund to the
owner of a Class P (passenger bus) 25% registered under § 13-933
of the Transportation Article, a portion of the excise tax paid
by that owner on that vehicle if:
(1) That vehicle was titled and registered in this
State and the excise tax on that vehicle was paid on or after
April 1, 1987; and
(2) That vehicle was continuously registered to that
owner in this State through May 15, 1989.
(b) (1) The Administration shall only refund an amount that
exceeds $10.
(2) The amount refunded may not be more than: shall
be the lesser of:
(i) 25% of the excise tax that was paid by the
owner on that vehicle; or
(ii) the percentage of Maryland's registration
fee that was paid because of the International Registration Plan
in 1989 for that vehicle multiplied by:
(i) 1. $75 for a bus with a seating capacity
of 20 or less;
