or rescue vehicle operated by any paid or volunteer fire company
or department or rescue squad.

(b) Nothing in this subtitle applies to any commercial
vehicle or vehicles being road tested for sale by a dealer
licensed in Maryland, provided the vehicle displays a dealers'
registration plates issued by the Motor Vehicle Administration.

(c) This subtitle does not apply to any privately owned but
or buses used only for operating the transportation system of any
municipality or political subdivision in this State. However,
these buses must be used for the transportation of the public on
regular schedules and between fixed termini, as these terms are
defined in Title 11 of the Transportation Article.

(d) This subtitle does not apply to any privately-owned
antique truck, provided the truck is registered as an historic
motor vehicle in compliance with § 13-936 of the Transportation
Article and displays appropriate registration plates issued by
the Motor Vehicle Administration.

(E) THIS SUBTITLE DOES NOT APPLY TO:

(1) A MOBILE HOME IS DEFINED IN § 11-134 OF THE
TRANSPORTATION ARTICLE; OR

(2) A CLASS E (TRUCK) VEHICLE NOT EXCEEDING 3/4 TON
CAPACITY WHEN TOWING:

(I) A CAMPING TRAILER AS DEFINED IN § 11-106 OF
THE TRANSPORTATION ARTICLE; OR

(II) A TRAVEL TRAILER AS DEFINED IN § 11-170 OF
THE TRANSPORTATION ARTICLE.

429.

[(a)] Except as provided in subsection (b) of this
section, any] ANY motor carrier who violates the provisions of §§
422 or 423 of this subtitle shall be guilty of a misdemeanor and
shall be charged and receive a citation as provided in Title 26
of the Transportation Article and, on conviction, shall be fined
not less than $200 nor more than $500 for each offense.

[(b) If the specific vehicle of a motor carrier is
registered under § 423 of this subtitle but fails to display the
valid identification marker required under this subtitle or fails
to possess or surrender the registration card required under this
subtitle to an officer who demands to inspect the card, the motor
carrier shall be charged and receive a citation as provided in
Title 26 of the Transportation Article and on conviction may be
fined not more than $25 for each offense.]
