EASTON

SUBSTITUTING IN LIEU THEREOF A PROVISION STATING THAT THE
QUALIFICATIONS OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL SHALL BE AS IS SET
FORTH IN SECTION 15 OF ARTICLE II OF THE TOWN CHARTER OF THE TOWN
OF EASTON.

[Article II, Section(s) 15 of the Charter of the Town of
Easton, Talbot County, as found in the compilation of Municipal
Charters of Maryland (1983 Edition), repealed and reenacted, with
amendments.

Effective Date February 3, 1987]

RESOLUTION NO. 53

A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF EASTON TO REPEAL AND RE-ENACT
WITH AMENDMENTS, ARTICLE V. (ELECTIONS, REGISTRATIONS AND
NOMINATIONS) OF THE CHARTER OF THE TOWN OF EASTON BY SETTING
FORTH PROVISIONS FOR THE METHODS OF REGISTRATION OF VOTERS AND
QUALIFICATION OF VOTERS, QUALIFICATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF
THE SUPERVISOR OF ELECTIONS AND ASSISTANT SUPERVISORS OF
ELECTIONS, PROVIDING FOR THE CANCELLATION OF REGISTRATION UPON
FAILURE TO VOTE, PROVIDING FOR THE MAINTENANCE OF A LIST OF
REGISTERED VOTERS WITH PROVISION FOR CHALLENGES THERETO,
CORRECTIONS THEREOF AND APPEALS THEREFROM, PROVIDING FOR THE
ELECTIONS OF THE MAYOR, PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL AND MEMBERS OF
THE TOWN COUNCIL, AND PROVIDING THAT EACH MEMBER OF THE TOWN
COUNCIL SHALL BE ELECTED SOLELY BY THE VOTERS OF HIS OR HER WARD,
PROVIDING FOR NOMINATIONS TO PUBLIC OFFICE, AUTHORIZING THE TOWN
COUNCIL TO APPORTION THE TOWN INTO FOUR ELECTORIAL WARDS,
PROVIDING FOR THE QUALIFICATIONS AND DUTIES OF POLL WATCHERS,
PROVIDING FOR NOTICES OF ELECTION, FORM AND CONTENTS OF BALLOTS,
POSTING OF SAMPLE BALLOTS, OPENING AND CLOSING OF POLLS, VOTING
PROCEDURE, PROVIDING FOR THE QUALIFICATIONS AND DUTIES OF A BOARD
OF CANVASSERS, PROVIDING FOR ABSENTEE BALLOTS, PROHIBITING THE
BRIBERY OF VOTERS AND OTHERWISE MAKING PROVISIONS FOR THE CONDUCT
OF ELECTIONS FOR PUBLIC OFFICE, AND REFERENDA ON ISSUES TO BE
SUBMITTED TO THE VOTERS, TO BE HELD BY THE TOWN OF EASTON.

[Article V, Section(s) 1-30.9 of the Charter of the Town of
Easton, Talbot County, as found in the compilation of Municipal
Charters of Maryland (1983 Edition), repealed.

Article V, Section(s) 1-34 of the Charter of the Town of
Easton, Talbot County, as found in the compilation of Municipal
Charters of Maryland (1983 Edition), added.
