MUNICIPAL CHARTERS

SHALL BE A RESIDENT OF HIS RESPECTIVE WARD FOR AT LEAST THIRTY
DAYS PRIOR TO HIS TAKING OFFICE AND SHALL REMAIN A RESIDENT OF
HIS WARD DURING THE TERM OF HIS OFFICE AND FURTHER PROVIDING THAT
THE PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL SHALL BE ELECTED AT LARGE THROUGHOUT
THE TOWN, SHALL BE A REGISTERED VOTER OF THE TOWN AT THE TIME OF
HIS FILING A NOMINATION PETITION FOR ELECTION TO OFFICE AND A
RESIDENT OF THE TOWN FOR AT LEAST THIRTY DAYS PRIOR TO HIS TAKING
OFFICE AND SHALL BE A RESIDENT OF THE TOWN THROUGHOUT HIS TERM OF
OFFICE.

[Article II, Section(s) 1 of the Charter of the Town of
Easton, Talbot County, as found in the compilation of Municipal
Charters of Maryland (1983 Edition), repealed and reenacted, with
amendments.

Effective Date February 3, 1987]

RESOLUTION NO. 51

A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF EASTON TO REPEAL AND RE-ENACT,
WITH AMENDMENTS, ARTICLE III, SECTION 2 OF THE CHARTER OF THE
TOWN OF EASTON TO ELIMINATE THEREFROM THE REQUIREMENTS THAT A
MAYOR OF THE TOWN OF EASTON MUST HAVE BEEN A LEGAL RESIDENT OF
THE TOWN FOR AT LEAST TWO YEARS IMMEDIATELY PRECEDING HIS
ELECTION, MUST BE A QUALIFIED VOTER OF THE TOWN AND MUST BE NOT
LESS THAN TWENTY-FIVE YEARS OF AGE AND SUBSTITUTING FOR SAID
QUALIFICATIONS THE FOLLOWING: THAT THE MAYOR OF EASTON BE A
RESIDENT OF THE TOWN FOR AT LEAST THIRTY DAYS IMMEDIATELY
PRECEDING HIS TAKING OFFICE AND BE A REGISTERED VOTER OF THE TOWN
OF EASTON AT THE TIME OF HIS FILING A NOMINATION PETITION FOR
OFFICE AND THAT, DURING THE TERM OF HIS OFFICE, THE MAYOR RESIDE
WITHIN THE TOWN LIMITS.

RESOLUTION NO. 52

A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN OF EASTON TO REPEAL AND RE-ENACT,
WITH AMENDMENTS, ARTICLE II, SECTION 15 OF THE CHARTER OF THE
TOWN OF EASTON IN ORDER TO DELETE THEREFROM LANGUAGE INDICATING
THAT THE QUALIFICATIONS OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCIL ARE THE
SAME AS THOSE OF OTHER COUNCIL MEMBERS AS SET FORTH IN SECTION 1
OF ARTICLE II OF THE TOWN CHARTER OF THE TOWN OF EASTON AND
