VETOES

This bill makes the statute of limitations for the crime of
conspiracy the same as the statute of limitations for the
underlying offense.

Senate Bill 305, which was passed by the General Assembly
and signed by me on April 29, 1987, accomplishes the same
purpose. Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House
Bill 433.

AN ACT concerning

Criminal Conspiracies - Statute of Limitations

FOR the purpose of making the statute of limitations for the
crime of conspiracy the same as the statute of limitations
for the underlying offense.

BY repealing and reenacting, without amendments,

Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings

Section 5-106(e) and (f)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1984 Replacement Volume and 1986 Supplement)

BY adding to

Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings

Section 5-106(1)

Annotated Code of Maryland

(1984 Replacement Volume and 1986 Supplement)

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article - Courts and Judicial Proceedings

5-106.

(e) A prosecution for the commission of or the attempt to
commit a misdemeanor constituting: (1) a criminal offense under
the State election laws; or (2) a criminal offense under the
State conflict of interest laws; or (3) criminal malfeasance,
