VETOES
SECTION, 1. BE IT ENACTED, BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:
Article 73B - Pensions
9.
(12) In the year that a member retires, the member is
entitled to credit for any previous service rendered by the
member as [a full-time paid] AN employee of a municipal
corporation of this State if:
(a) The employee is not entitled to receive service
credit for the same period under any other provision of this
article;
(b) The employee is not receiving retirement benefits
from any political subdivision or municipal corporation of this
State; and
(c) The employee, the municipal corporation, or both,
pay an amount equal to the reserves required to fund the previous
service.
85.
(10) Any individual who is or becomes a member of the
Teachers' Retirement System and who at any previous time served
as [a full-time paid] AN employee of a municipal corporation of
this State and who is not entitled to receive credit for that
period of employment under any other provision of this article
shall be entitled in the year in which he retires to credit for
previous service rendered by him to the municipal corporation if
the member files a claim for it with the board of trustees and
the member or the municipal corporation or a combination of both
pays an amount equal to the reserves required to fund the
previous service.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1987.
