SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1987.

Dear Mr. Speaker:

In accordance with Article II, Section 17 of the Maryland
Constitution, I have today vetoed House Bill 340.

This bill provides that members of the Employees and
Teachers Retirement System may purchase creditable service for
past part-time municipal corporation employment.

Senate Bill 92, which was passed by the General Assembly and
signed by me on April 29, 1987, accomplishes the same purpose.
Therefore, it is not necessary for me to sign House Bill 340.

Pensions - Purchase of Part-Time Municipal Service

Teachers' Retirement Systems to purchase service credit for
part-time municipal service under certain circumstances.
