AN ACT concerning

Harford County - Animal Control - Dogs

FOR the purpose of requiring the County Council of Harford County
to provide by ordinance for payment for losses due to injury
or to distruction destruction of sheep, poultry, or
livestock by dogs; limiting damage awards to a certain
amount; and generally relating to animal control in. Harford
County.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 56 - Licenses

198.

(L) IN HARFORD COUNTY, THE COUNTY COUNCIL SHALL PRESCRIBE
BY ORDINANCE THE MANNER IN WHICH THE POWERS, DUTIES, AND
RESPONSIBILITIES PLACED WITHIN ITS JURISDICTION AND CONTROL BY
THIS SECTION SHALL BE EXERCISED. AN AWARD GRANTED BY THE COUNTY
COUNCIL FOR DAMAGES MAY NOT EXCEED $500 PER ANIMAL OR $5,000 PER
INCIDENT.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1987.
