Ch. 525

(1)  CONTRACT WITH A PRIVATE VENDOR OR NONPROFIT
ORGANIZATION TO PROVIDE THE INFORMATION AND REFERRAL SERVICE
REQUIRED UNDER SUBSECTION (A)(4) OF THIS SECTION; AND

(2)  RECEIVE APPROPRIATE STAFF ASSISTANCE FROM THE
DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES TO ASSIST THE BOARD IN CARRYING OUT
ITS DUTIES UNDER THIS SUBTITLE.

THE DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES IN CONSULTATION WITH THE
BOARD SHALL ADOPT REGULATIONS TO CARRY OUT THE PURPOSES OF THIS
SUBTITLE.

6-507.

THE BOARD SHALL:

(1) PREPARE AN ANNUAL BUDGET; AND

(2) SUBMIT THIS BUDGET TO THE SECRETARY OF THE
DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES FOR THE SECRETARY'S REVIEW AND
APPROVAL.

(A) THE PROGRAM SHALL BE FUNDED BY MONEYS CONTRIBUTED
DIRECTLY TO THE PROGRAM BY TELEPHONE COMPANIES. THE PROGRAM
SHALL BE FUNDED AS PROVIDED IN THE STATE BUDGET.

(B) A TELEPHONE COMPANY THAT HAS CONTRIBUTED MONEY TO FUND
THE PROGRAM MAY DEDUCT THE SUM CONTRIBUTED FROM THE TELEPHONE
COMPANY'S ANNUAL GROSS RECEIPTS TAX DUE UNDER § 130 OF ARTICLE 81
OF THE CODE.

SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That the terms of the
initial members of the Telecommunications for Disabled
Individuals Board shall expire as determined by lot, as follows:

(1)  5 3 members   in   1988;

(2)  5 3 members in 1989;

(3)  5 3 members in 1990; and

(4)  4 2 members in 1991.

SECTION 3. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1987 1988.
