DRAFTER'S NOTE: This corrects a stylistic error in a
cross-reference in Article 48A, § 171(a).
The stylistic error occurred in Ch. 553 of the Acts of
1963.
The stylistic error was noted by the professional
staff of the Legislative Division of the Department of
Legislative Reference.
(c) The Commissioner is further authorized to enter into
reciprocal agreements with the appropriate official of -any other
state waiving the written examination of any applicant resident
in such other state, provided:
(1) That a written examination is required of
applicants for a license in such other state;
(2). That the appropriate official of such other state
certifies that the applicant holds a currently valid license or.
certificate to act as an agent or broker in such other state and
either passed such written examination or was the holder of an
agent's or broker's license or certificate prior to the time such
written examination was required;
(3) That the applicant has no place of business
within this State in the transaction of business as an agent or
broker; AND
(4) That in such other state, a resident of this
State is privileged to procure an agent's or broker's license or
certificate upon the foregoing conditions.
DRAFTER'S NOTE: This corrects the omission of a conjunction
in Article 48A, § 171(c).
The conjunction, "and", was omitted from Ch. 553 of
the Acts of 1963. The conjunction, "or" was omitted
from Ch. 778 of the Acts of 1984.
The omission of the conjunction was noted by the
Michie Company.

(a) Before any individual is eligible for a certificate to
act as agent or broker, with regard to kinds of insurance other
than life and health insurance, annuities, and limited lines as
set forth in § 173 OF THIS SUBTITLE he shall, except as otherwise
provided in this subtitle, be required to meet the qualifications
prescribed by § 177 OF THIS SUBTITLE.
