The article, "a", and the punctuation, a comma, were
omitted from Ch. 553 of the Acts of 1963. The
antiquated language was also contained in Ch. 553 of
the Acts of 1963.

The omission of the article was noted by the Michie
Company. The antiquated language and the omission of
the punctuation were noted by the professional staff
of the Legislative Division of the Department of
Legislative Reference.

168.

(b) In order to obtain a certificate of qualification to
act as an insurance agent, a person shall:

(1)  (i) File the appropriate application form with
the Commissioner affirming that the individual is of good
character and trustworthy;

(ii) Meet the education, experience, and other
qualification provisions of §§ 171, 176, 177, and 178 of this
article, as applicable; and

(iii) Pay the fee specified in § 41 of this
article; or

(2)   [Possesses] POSSESS a valid broker's certificate
of qualification for the kind or kinds of insurance or
subdivision thereof for which that individual intends to act as
agent and pay the applicable fee for an original agent's
certificate of qualification as specified in § 41 of this
article.

DRAFTER'S NOTE: This corrects a grammatical error in
Article 48A, § 168(b).

The grammatical error occurred in Ch. 778 of the Acts
of 1984.

The grammatical error was noted by the Computer
Division of the Department of Legislative Reference.

171.

(a) A person not resident and not having a place of
business in this State may receive a certificate to act as an
agent or broker upon compliance with the provisions of this
subtitle, other than the provisions of § 177(1) OF THIS SUBTITLE
relating to education or experience, provided that the state in
which such person resides will accord the same privilege to a
resident of this State.
