32                                                   LAWS OF MARYLAND                                      Ch. 5

Ch. 692 of the Acts of the Regular Session of the
General Assembly of 1985 added a new § 206A within the
subtitle providing for the regulation of licensing
fees in Worcester County.

The amendment of the subtitle was suggested by the
Michie Company.

Article 10 - Attorneys At Law and Attorneys In Fact

45E.

(i) The Board's meetings shall be open to the public except
that a meeting may be closed for a purpose listed in [Article
76A, § 11 of the Code] § 10-508 OF THE STATE GOVERNMENT ARTICLE.

DRAFTER'S NOTE: This corrects an outdated cross-reference
in Article 2B, § 45E(i).

The cross-reference became outdated with the passage
of the State Government Article, Ch. 284 of the Acts
of the General Assembly of 1984.

The outdated cross-reference was noted by the Michie
Company.

ATTORNEY'S LIENS

46.

(a)  An attorney has a lien on:

(1)  Actions, suits, and proceedings of the attorney's
client from the time they are commenced; and

(2)  Judgments, decrees, orders, and awards entered in
favor of the attorney's client.

(b)  A lien under subsection (a) of this section extends to
the attorney's fees and compensation specially agreed on with the
attorney's client if the services for such fees and compensation
produced the funds to which the lien is applicable.

(c)  An attorney's lien under this section is not
subordinate to any other lien or claim, except:

(1)  A prior lien based on salaries or wages due to
employees for work which is related to or a part of the award,
order, decree or judgment; or

(2)  A lien against the client for State taxes due.

DRAFTER'S NOTE: This adds a new subtitle "Attorney's Liens"
to immediately precede Article 10, § 46.
