United States, the State, or a county or municipality of the
State for the purpose of law enforcement, and has completed the
training prescribed by the Maryland Police Training Commission
for a police officer; or (e) 5 full years' experience employed as
a full-time fire investigator for a fire department or law
enforcement agency in or of the State or a county or municipality
of the State and has successfully completed the training
certified by the Maryland Police Training Commission or the
Maryland State Fire Rescue Education Commission. For the purposes
of (b) and (c) of the preceding sentence, "an organized police
department" [shall mean] MEANS an organized police department of
this State, or a county or municipality thereof, AND INCLUDES A
PRIVATE POLICE DEPARTMENT CERTIFIED TO MEET THE STANDARDS
PRESCRIBED BY THE MARYLAND POLICE TRAINING COMMISSION IF THE
APPLICANT HAS SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THE MARYLAND POLICE TRAINING
COMMISSION'S PRESCRIBED COURSE OF TRAINING THAT IS PERMITTED TO
ENROLL ITS OFFICERS IN APPROVED MARYLAND POLICE TRAINING
COMMISSION SCHOOLS AND ACADEMIES IF THE APPLICANT HAS
SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THE MARYLAND POLICE TRAINING COMMISSION'S
PRESCRIBED TRAINING COURSE FOR A POLICE OFFICER, or a law
enforcement agency of the United States of America or any state
of the United States, or county or municipality thereof; or
(2) Such person or at least one member of the firm
and one officer or director of the association or corporation was
licensed or registered by the Superintendent pursuant to this
subtitle of this article on or prior to July 1, 1968.
SECTION 2. AND BE IT FURTHER ENACTED, That this Act shall
take effect July 1, 1986.

AN ACT concerning
Private Detectives
FOR the purpose of revising, through both substantive and
nonsubstantive changes, the laws of the State that regulate
private detective agencies, private detectives, and security
guards, including: the addition of a provision that
expressly authorizes the Superintendent of the Maryland
State Police to adopt regulations to carry out these
statutory provisions; the addition of a provision that
requires the Superintendent to keep certain rosters; the
change of certain fees charged for obtaining the records of
