Private Detectives - Qualifications

FOR the purpose of altering the definition of an organized police
department to include certain private police departments
certified to meet specific standards so as to provide;
providing that a member of those police departments may
qualify for a private detective's license under certain
circumstances; and making a stylistic change.

SECTION 1. BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF
MARYLAND, That the Laws of Maryland read as follows:

Article 56 - Licenses

78.

(b) No license shall be issued to a person under the age of
twenty-five years, nor to any person, firm, association or
corporation unless:

(1) Such person or at least one member of the firm,
and one officer or director of the association or corporation has
had at least (a) five years' experience as a full-time licensed
investigator; or (b) 5 full years' experience as a full-time
police officer with an organized police department; or (c) three
full years' experience in an investigative capacity as a
detective while serving as a police officer with an organized
police department; or (d) 3 full years' experience in an
investigative capacity in a private or public agency in or of the
