[(2) (3) (2) The maximum yearly overtime to be paid
any one employee of the Maryland State Police or the Department
of Natural Resources is as follows:
Cadet, Maryland State Police Unlimited
Trooper, Trooper First Class and Natural
Resources Officers I, II and III Unlimited
Corporal and Natural Resources Corporal Unlimited
Sergeant and Natural Resources Sergeant Unlimited

[(3) The, yearly overtime to be paid to any one
law-enforcement employee of any other State agency shall be
unlimited for those employees entitled to overtime payments as
designated by the Secretary of Personnel.]
(4) (3) Funds, other than those designated out of the
general funds of the State, which are allocated from federal,
county, or municipal sources, or from State special fund sources,
may be used to pay overtime to law-enforcement employees and
cadets of the Maryland State Police or [law-enforcement employees
of any other State agency] NATURAL RESOURCES POLICE whether or
not the maximum limits for each rank listed above have been paid.
A rank above captain in the State Police or [a Natural Resources
major] ABOVE MAJOR IN THE NATURAL RESOURCES POLICE is not
entitled to receive overtime in any case.
(5) (4) If an employee's rank is changed during the
year, [he] THE EMPLOYEE shall be entitled to the higher of the
two applicable yearly overtime maximums for the duration of the
year. [Overtime compensation may not be paid to law-enforcement
employees taking basic training at the Police Academy, or to any
law-enforcement employee attending school or taking other
training the length of which course is more than 30 days.]
Overtime payments may not be taken into consideration for
retirement or pension purposes.
