Edward Skinner	\|	Commanded it was to the Sherf of Kent County
a^t	\|	the Twenty third day of November in the Second
Robert Gray —	\|	Year of his Lordships Dominion &c^a. That the

   Dic^s Robert Gray in Kent County Plant^r if he Should be found in his Bailywick
   and him Safe keep So that he have his body before his Said Lord Ships
   Justices of the next Court to be held at our Court house in the Town of~
   Chester in Said County to Answer unto Edward Skinner of a plea that
   he render him the full and just Sume of Seven hundred pounds of~
   Marchantable Sound Tobacco clear of Trash and Cask to Contain the
   Same of the value of Seven pounds Sterling money which from—
   him he unjustly detains &c^a. And that he have then and there
   the Said writ &c^a. Att which Said next Court viz^t. the Eighteenth
   day of March the Same year last mentioned the day of return of
   Said writ came Simon Wilmer Gent~. high Sherf of Said County
   and made return thereof in these words thereon Endorsed as foll^s
   viz^t. Cepi Corpus p^r Simon Wilmer Sher^f- And A Declⁿ being fild
   when Said writ Issued forth and a Copy thereof Served therewith according
   to Act of Assembly in Such Case made &c^a. was as foll^s viz^t. Kent~.
   County Ss Robert Gray of Kent County planter ali^s Dic^s Robert Gray in
   Kent County plan^rt was Summoned to Answer unto Edward Skinner
   of a plea that he render him the full and just Summe of Seven hundred
   pounds of Merchantable Sound Tobacco clear of trash and Cask to .
   contain the Same of the value of Seven pounds Sterling money
   which from him he unjustly detains &c^a- and Whereupon the
   afd Plt. by Thomas Bowne his att^ry Saith that Whereas the afd Deft~.
   the Seventh day of February in the year of our Lord Christ one Thousand
   Seven hundred and Sixteen at S^t. Pauls Parish in Kent County within the
   Jurisdicion of this Court by his certain Bill obligatory which he the Said .
   Deft~ Sealed with his Seale and as his deed Delivered hereinto Court brought
   the date whereof is the Same day and year afd bound himselfe to pay or
   Cause to be paid unto the afd Plt~. the afd full and just Summe of Seven—
   hundred pounds of Merchantable Sound Tobacco Clear of Trash and Cask to Contain
   the Same of the afd value of Seven pounds Sterling money when thereunto
   he the Said Deft~ Should be required Yet the afd Deft~ altho’ often required
   the afd Summe of Seven hundred pounds of Tobacco to the Said Plt~ hath
   not paid or cause to be paid but that to him to render or pay or cause to be
   paid hitherto hath denied and Still doth denie and unjustly detain to the
   damage of him the Said Plt. fourteen pounds Sterling money and thereup:
