                                            June Court                                                 25 
   bill of Indictment the Said Edward prays that he may have a tryall on—
   the Same and Mr Thomas Bowne his attry Saith that he will not make
   any advantage for want of [Same?] &ca.
   wee of the Grand Jury for the body of Kent County do present Edward
   Williams for Stealing a Mare the goods of Peter Allaby value one pound
   fifteen Shillings Sterling - Evidences John Jones John Clarke Peter—
   Allaby    Billa vera pr Simon Wilmer foreman——
   And the afd Edward in his proper person appears to the Same and
   being at the barr and being asked whether he is guilty or not guilty.
   Pleads not guilty and for tryall puts himselfe on God and the Country.
   Williams in proper person—————
   And he who prosecutes for the Lord proprietary Saith he is guilty in
   like manner      J Johnson pr Dne..Proprtarie——
   Thereupon Command was given to the Sherf of Kent County that he
   cause to come here twelve &ca. By whom &ca   To Recognize & because as
   well &ca. who neither &ca. And the Sherf comes and Saith that he hath
   here ready twelve &ca. as by his precept it was Commanded who being called
   likewise came vizt- Samuel Thomas John Taylor Robt Hutchenson—.
   John Hendrickson John Faning Roger Hailes John Huff John Ellis John-
   Williams Mathew Piner Charles Smith Thomas Cowarding who being duly
   elected tryd & Sworn and having heard the pleadings Evidences and allegations
   on both Sides with draw and after Some time do againe return to the barr
   and being called over as also the Prisoner at the barr and being asked whether
   they are agreed on a verdict~ or not do Say they are agreed on a verdict and being
   asked whether the prisoner at the barr is guilty or not guilty as he Stands —
   [alleged?] do Say the prisoner at the barr is not guilty as he Stands [Presented]
   and by Samuel Thomas There foreman al So Say   on which Mr Thomas —
   Bowne attry for the prisoner at the barr prays Judgmt~. on the verdict of
   the Jurors afd. Therefore it is Considered by the Court here vizt. this —
   twentieth day of June Anno Domi one Thousand Seven hundred & —
   Sixteen That the afd Edward Williams as to the afd Presentment be therefrom
   acquitted & go thereof without day Pay the Sume of one Thousand and fifty-
   pounds of Tobacco Cost ariseing on the premises &ca
   ordered by the Court here that Surety be gave for fees . on which George
   Gleaves Junr. of this County comes into Court and Saith he will pay for ye
   afd Edward Williams the fees on the premises afd to the officers of this Court
   if the afd Edward Williams do not pay them himselfe .
