213 June Court 1717 and in and by the Said Act it was further enacted that any Master of . Ships or vessells or otherwise whatsoever that Should transport or Convey out of this Province by Land or water any freeman being indebted by Bill Bond Accot. or otherwise to any Inhabitant thereof without— Such pass under the hand of the Governour Chancellor or Secretary . afd Should be Lyable to Satisfie all Such debts Ingagements and damages to the person or persons to whom Such debts or damages — respectively Should be due within this Province except the Same Should be otherwise Satisfied or that the Transporter or Conveyer away of Such person or persons Should procure Such person or persons to return againe within one Month after whereby he may be lyable to Justice in the Said Province and every Such person as . afd as Should transport or convey away out of this Province any Servt. or Servants being Servts. in the Said Province by Condition — for wages Indenture or Custom of the Country Should be lyable to — pay to the Master or owner of Such Servant or Servants So carried away all Such damages as he or they Should make appear to be justly due to Such Master or owner for want of Such Servts. as the Court before whom Such Cause Should be tryd Should think fitt and — whereas in and by the Same Act it Stands further enacted that from & after the Publication thereof no person or persons inhabiting or being at the head of the Bay or in any other part of this province Should Transport or Convey or cause to be transported or conveyed - over Susquehannah River or any other part of the Bay above the North Side of Sarsafras River on the Easternern Shore of the Bay or over Potomock or Pocomoke Rivers in the Coloney of Virgina not having Passes So procured as afd or a Certificate from under the hand of two Justices of the peace of the County were Such person or persons intending to travell Should inhabitt & the County Seale affixed thereto certifiing the freedom of Such persons and . that he She or they are clear to the best of their knowledge from any Ingagements impeding their travelling as afd on penalty of answering all Such debts or damages to Credrs. Masters or owners. of Servants to be recovered as by this Law is provided against Such as Shall actually Sett them out of this province as by the Same Act in full force & vigour being and remaining it doth and may more fully and at large appear And the afd John in fact Saith that a certain Oliver Kranivett late of Queen Annes County — in |
