   133                           March Court 1716
   Seven hundred pounds of Tobacco residue little minding or
   regarding but plotting and fraudulently intending him the Said
   Plt in this behalf craftily & Subtilly to deceive and defraud the
   Said five hundred and fifty pounds of Tobacco to the Said Plt~ —
    Altho to do the Same the Said Deft by the Said Plt the first~
   day of November in the Year afd at the Parish County and ——
   Jurisdiciõn afd & oftener Since by the Said Plt hath been thereto
   required) hath not paid nor any ways contented for the Same but
   to him to pay hath hitherto refused & Still doth refuse wherefore
   he Says he is worse and hath damage to the value of one—
   thousand pounds of Tobacco And thereupon he brings Suite.

   1716 Wm Ringgold Dr. To Covering your Dwelling House
   700     1716 Per Contra Credt. By 1 pr. mens Shoes 60
   By 1 pr womens D.o 60   By 1 pr. Boys D.o 30 . . 150 ——
    Balle due   550lb Tobo Errors Excepted pr me William Woodland
   And now at this Court the Said Deft by Thomas Bowne his
   attorney appears to the afd accõn and files his plea which
   is as folls viz.t   And the afd Deft by Thomas Bowne his attry -
   Comes and Saith that he did not assume upon himselfe in Manner
   & forme as ye afd Plt above hath declared against him and of this
   he puts himselfe upon ye Country   TBowne pr Deft~
      And the Plt in like manner Jno Johnson pr qr —
   Thereupon Command was given the Sherf of Kent County that
   he immediatly cause to come here Twelve &ca. By whom & To Recognize
   &ca. Because as well &ca. Who neither &ca. And the Sherf comes and
   makes return that he hath here ready Twelve &ca. as by his —
   precept it was Commanded vizt. Samuel Thomas William Graves Daniel
   Cooly Robt. Green Richard Fillingham Simon Wilmer Phil Davis.
   John Cole Thomas Boots John Hall Richard Scaggs John Clarke
   which Jury being duely Elected tryd and Sworn and the Plt having
   proved his Acco.t~ and that the balle due to him is as above stated .
   viz five hundred and fifty pounds of Tobacco And the Jury having
   heard the pleadings   Evidences and allegations on both Sides with
  :draw and after Some time do againe return to the barr and
