   his body before his Said Lordships Justices of the next Court to be held at
   our Court house in the Town of Chester in Said County to answer unto William
   Woodland of a plea of Trespass upon ye Case . and that he have then &
   there the Said writ &ca. Att which Said next Court vizt the nineteenth
   day of March the Same Year last mentioned the day of return of
   Said writ Came William Frisby Gent high Sherf of Said County and
   made return thereof in these words thereon endorsed as folls viz.t
   Cepi Corpus pr Wm Ffrisby Sherf.
      And a Decln being fild and a Copy thereof Served therewith accord:
  :ing to Act of Assembly of this Province in Such Cases made &ca Kent~
   County Maryland Ss William Ringgold late of Kent County Gent~ was
   Sumoned to Answer unto William Woodland of a plea of Trespass on
   the Case.   And whereupon the Said Plt by John Johnson his attry
   complains that whereas the afd Deft~ the first day of August in the
   year of our Lord one Thousand Seven hundred & Sixteen at the Parish
   of St. Pauls in the County afd & within the Jurisdiciõn of this Court in
   Consideration that the afd Plt had at the Special instance & request
   of the Said Deft~ and for his the Said Defts proper use and behoofe
   done and performed divers works labour & Services as in the Accot.
   hereunto annexed menconed did then and there upon himselfe —
   assume & to the Said Plt then and there faithfully promised
   that he the Said Deft So much Merchantable leafe Tobacco as
   the Said Plt for the Said work labour & Services at the time of .
   the doing & performing thereof Should reasonably deserve to the Said
   Plt when he Should be thereunto required would well & truly content
   & pay And the afd Plt in fact Saith f that for the Said work -
   labour & Services then & there done and performed as afd at
   the time of the doing & performing thereof he well & reasonably
   derved the Sum of quantity of Seven hundred pounds of Tobacco
   as pr^theAccot. annexed Appears of which the Said Deft the day and —
   year afd at the Parish County & Jurisdiciõn afd had Notice Neverthe:
  :less the afd Deft his promise & assumpcõns afd as to the Said Sum
   of Seven hundred pounds of Tobacco he hath not minded But altho’
   he hath paid & Satisfied to the Said Plt the Sume of one hundred
   and fifty pounds of Tobacco of the afd Seven hundred pounds of
   Tobacco part yet the afd Deft his promise and assumption afd -
   as to the Sume of five hundred & fifty pounds of Tobo of ye afd
