March Court 1714 53 every the felonies Witchcrafts Enchantments Sorceries Arts Magicks Trespasses forestall= =ings regrateings Engroseings Riots Indictments and all other the matters afd according to the Laws of Great Brittaine and this our province had & used or to be had & used and the Said Deliquents and every of them to Chastize and Punish by fines — Ransomes Amerciaments forefeitures and otherwise according to the Said Laws and — Customes of our Sd Kingdom and Province and the forme of the Statute and Acts of~ Assembly thereof had and used or to be had and used But. we will not that you . proceed in any the Cases afd to take Life or member but that in every Such Case. you Send the prisoners with there Indictments and the whole matters depending before you to our Justice’s of our next Provll Court to be held for this our Province be it whensoever or wheresoever to be holden there to be tryed and we Command you & every of you diligently to [Intend?] the keeping the Peace Ordinances & Statutes & all and every the Premises and that at your County Courts you make Inquisition and - heare and determine as afd doing therein what to Justice appertains According to the Laws and Customes of our Said Kingdom and Province afd and further we do Constitute ordaine & appoint you the Sd James Harris William Pott Edward Scott William Comegys Michael Miller St Leager Codd William Blay and Mr Lambert~ . Wilmer or any three or more as afd to Issue out writs precepts process and - attachments and hold plea of oyer and Terminer of all Actions popular & upon the Statute and of all Actions personall of what Sort Soever wherein the demand doth not Exceed the Sume of one hundred pounds Sterling or Thirty Thousand pounds of Tobacco and after Judgment Execution to award in all Such Causes and Actions as afd. According to the Laws orders and Customes of that part of our kingdom of Great Brittaine Called England as of this our Province of Maryland in which Said Actions So to be tryed we do Constitute ordaine and appoint you the Said James Harris William Pott Edward Scott William Comegys Michael Miller St Leagr. Codd William Blay & Lambert Wilmer and none others to be Judges also by these Presents we do Command the Sherrife of our Said County of Kent that at the Severall Courts to be held for our Sd County he give his attendance and Cause to Come before you or any three or more of y.o as afd Such and So many good . and Lawfull men of his Baylwick out of Each hundred and Every hundred — thereof by whom the truth of the matt.r in the Prmises may be the better . known and Enquired of Lastly you Shall Cause to be brought before . you at your Said Courts all writts precepts process and Indictments to your Courts |
