June Court 1714 21 & Allegations on both Sides do Depart from the Barr and after Some time do retur[n] to the Barr and being Called over do all appear as also the Prisoner do appear & the afd Jury being Asked whether they are agreed on a verdict or not do Say they are agreed on a verdict & being Demanded whether they find the Prisoner at the . barr Guilty or not Guilty Do Say the Prisoner at the Barr is Guilty as he Stands indicted and by Samuel Thomas there foreman all So Say and Thomas Bowne Clarke of the Indictments Prays Judgment on the verdict afd. Therefore it is Considered by the Court here vizt this third Day of June Annoque Domini one Thousand Seven hundred and fourteen That the Said Christopher Rye Pay the~ four fold the value of the afd Goods Stoln Amounting to the Sume of Sixteen Shillings Sterling money to Stand in the Pillory two hours and then to be . made fast to ye whyping Post and to Receive twenty one Lashes on his bare back tell the Blood appear and to Pay the Sume of Eight hundred Twenty - three pounds of Tobacco Cost Accrueing to the officers of this Court on the prmises afd it is Considered by the Court here viz the Same Day Last mentioned That William Frisby Gentleman high Sherrife of Said County take the afd Christor. Rye And Putt him in the Pillory and there to Stand two hours and then to be taken from thence and to be made fast to ye Common whyping Post & to have on his bare back Twenty one Lashes well layd on, on his bare back tell the blood appear and then to Bring him into Court againe Att which Said Court the Same day Last mentioned Came the afd Sherrife with the afd Christopher Rye And made Returne that in all things he had Executed the Judgment afd. ordered by the Court here that the Said Christopher Rye Pay the fees on ye Premises afd or give good Surety for the Same John Clayton of this County Comes into Court and Saith that he will pay to the officers of this Court the Sume of Eight hundred and Twenty three pounds of Tobacco Cost Accrueing to the officers of this Court on the Premises afd. ordered by the Court here that John Clayton as an Evidence in the above Cause be allowed the Sume of ninety pounds of Tobacco in the next Leavey for three Days attendance ordered by the Court here that Joseph Rye be allowed the Sume of [ninety] |
