Charles absolute Lord & Proprietarie of the Province of Maryland and Avalon Lord Baron of Baltemore &ca To James Harris Nath.ll Hynson William Pott Edward Scott Wm Comegys Michael Miller William Blay Lambert Wilmer and Henry Lowe Junr of Kent County Gent~ Greeting Know yee that we have assigned You and every of you jointly & Severally our Justices to keep our peace within - our County of Kent and to make and Cause to be kept all ordinances and Statutes as well of that part of ye Kingdom of great Britain Called England in force in this Province as of this our province of Maryld for ye good and Conservation of ye Peace and quiet rule & Government of our people within our Said County in all and every the Articles therein expressed according to ye form force and Effect of the Same & to Chastize and punish all or any person or persons offending against any the Said ordinances or Statutes according to the Direction thereof and to Call before you or any of you all those who in our County afd. Shall threaten to do any bodily harm to any of our good people or to burn their houses or otherwise break our peace and misbehave themselves to find Sufficiently Security of ye Peace and good behavr. to us and our good People and if they Shall refuse to find^SuchSecurity that then you Cause them to be Committed in Safe Custody untill they Shall find the Same also we have assigned You and every three or more of you of whom we will you the Said James Harris Nathaniel Hynson William Pott and Edward Scott or one of you all wayes to be one our Justices to enquire by ye Oaths of good and Lawfull men of our County afd by whom the truth of the prmisses may be the better known of all and all manner of felonies Witchcrafts Enchantm.ts Sorceries Arts magick Trespasses engrossings regratings forestallings and Extorcõns whatsoever & of all & other misfeazances & offences whatsoever of which Justices of our peace Lawfully may or ought to |
