                                       August Court 1715 .                                               101  
   The Ffollowing Letter was by the Sherrife of this County .
   delivered to the Court vizt.
                                                   By his Excellency ye Gov.r & Council
   in Assembly May 3.d 1715 ——

      His Excellency being pleased to communicate to the Board one of
   her late Majestys Royal Instructions to him and which he is enjoyned
   by his most Sacred Maj.ty to observe . Relateing to Schoole Masters [to wit] —
   prohibitting any prson to teach Schoole unless Qualified by takeing the
   Oaths of allegiance to his Majesty &c And obtaining his Excellencys
   Lycence for keeping Such Schooles   .    .   It was thereupon Advised
   and Resolved yt Directions be Sent to the Sev.l County Courts in this Province
    And the Justices of the Said County Courts are hereby Ordered to inquire and
   Returne to his Excellency the Governo.r w.th all Convenient Speed an account
   of all Schooles & Schoole Masters in their Respective Countys together with
   their Judgment or Opinion of the Capacity. of Such Masters and also to
   give Notice in full County Court that all prsons keeping or intending to keep
   any Schoole in this Province be and are obliged to take the Oaths .
   appointed to be taken instead of the Oaths of allegiance and Supremacy
   and the Oath appointed by the Act of Parliament~ made in the Sixth
   year of the Reigne of her late Ma.ty for Security of her Majestys prson and
   Government. & of ye Succession to ye Crown in the Protestant Lyne and
   Subscribe ye Said Oath & Declaration commonly called the Test~ on Comply
  :ance wherew.th & on produceing a Certificate from the Justices of their good
   Capacity they may apply to his Excellency and obtain his Lycence for ——
   teaching their respective Schooles Signed pr order— WBladen & Council
   Which being read and heard It is ordered by this Court here that
   notice be gave by Setting up notes at the Church done in Each Parish
   in Said County that those persons that do or hath amend to teach Schoole
   to appeare at November Court next in ord.r to have Certificates
   as above directed ——
