       The State of Maryland Prince Georges County to wit

             I hereby certify that the bearer hereof by the
       name of James about fifty seven years of age
       of a black complexion five feet four inches high
       with a scar under the elbow of the left arm about
       an inch and an half in length who was raised
       in the family of Samuel Snowden of Prince
       Georges County is a freeman and obtained his
       freedom by Deed of Manumission from the
       said Samuel Snowden bearing date the
       fourth day of February in the year one
       thousand seven Hundred and Eighty

             Given under my hand and seal of office
             this twentieth day of November in the
             year Eighteen Hundred and Eleven

       State of Maryland Prince Georges County to wit

                I hereby certify that the bearer hereof a
       bright mulatto Girl by the name of Polly
       about Twenty three or twenty four years of age
       five feet seven inches high with a scar on her

       inches in length who was raised in Prince
       Georges County in the family of Osborn Sprigg
       is a freewoman and obtained her freedom by
       virtue of a Deed of Manumission bearing date
